About FeltingNeedle felting involves taking a sharp barbed needle and poking loose fibers thousands of time until the desire form is achieved. It is usually done when the fiber is dry. Wet felting involves applying hot water and soap to interlocking the wool fibers together, doing rubbing motions. Personally I am fan of needle felting. When I first start needle felting I poked my fingers a lot but now I am needle felting by watching TV. Can you imagine that? It takes more time to finish them but they are all in the same size and they look so perfect! The felting needle is thin steel that is really very sharp and also has tiny barbs. You can’t see these barbs except if you use a magnifying glass. When you push the needle into the fiber and puling it back out you are going to interlock the fibers together. As many times you are poking the fibers as thicker your project will be. |
